Minutes
Vice Chair Dan Haskins opened the meeting at 5pm.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited
Present were Selectboard member Colton Andrews, Town Administrator Ron Boucher and Sarah Hurlbut.
Chief Williams briefed the Selectboard and Ron regarding the State Police covering Clarksburg. MCLA and North Adams Police Department are interested in Clarksburg’s police cruisers. Animal Control Officer Diana Worth needs an area in the garage for storing equipment. Dan informed Ron that the State Police will patrol Clarksburg with 2 four-hour blocks. They will be giving the board a report of what transpires. Ron is going to check the Kelly Blue book regarding the value of the cruisers. Colton & Dan agreed on closing the police department. Colton motioned to officially close the Clarksburg Police Department and authorized Ron to sell the cruisers. Dan second, motion carried.
Ron briefed the Selectboard regarding the Veterans Hero Act. The Act supports veterans behavioral health and businesses where Veterans work. There is a new Veterans agent Kurtis Derocher in North Adams. Veterans can reach out to him for more information.
Santec is monitoring the soil sampling required at the landfill. DPW Foreman Kyle Hurlbut was able to obtain a 3yr contract to lock in a rate of $42,600. as it’s likely to increase yearly. Colton motioned to approve the contract. Dan second, motion carried. The Selectboard signed the contract.
Sanitary Survey Compliance. DEP sampled the well water at Clarksburg Elementary School. The report came back with everything fine.
Library & school roof update: Ron provided the board with pictures from a site visit on February 13th. The library roof has a leak in the eave and a ceiling tile fell. Kyle is going to check out the ceiling tile tomorrow. All bids will be submitted by Thursday March 6th. The first bid was for approximately $900,000. The bids include Section 1& 2 of the roof. Two bids have been received so far.
Review & Approve minutes was tabled until Selectboard Chair Robert Norcross is present.
Ron met with John Barrett, NBSU and is meeting with Mass School Building Association regarding the school roof. Ron asked Town Clerk Marilyn Gomeau to budget extra money in case there needs to be a special town meeting. Residents need access to all the information prior to deciding. 6 new homes have been built in Clarksburg.
