Agenda

  1. Call to order:
  2. Public Comment/Open Meeting Rules: Clarification of the official legal rules of participation in an open meeting.
  3. Approval of Minutes: Suggested Motion: Move to approve the minutes from the Clarksburg School Committee Meeting dated November 12, 2024.
  4. Select Board Update: Select Board Chairperson Bob Norcross will provide the school committee with an update from the town regarding recent meetings and discussions.
  5. School Building: Continued discussion and updates regarding the replacement of flooring in two early childhood classrooms, building safety in reference to the shared space area with the Clarksburg Public Library and other areas of the school, heating and air conditioning improvements, the school roof, and the overall condition of the school building.
  6. Financial Statement: Suggested Motion: Move to approve the current financial statement for FY25.
  7. Business Administrator’s Report: Update on the progress made toward completing the end of the year report for FY24 (that was due on October 1).
  8. Principal’s Report: An update on school related events/activities, student learning, and staffing.

    1. New Business:
      1. NBSU Joint Committee Meeting: The next meeting will be scheduled as an online session at a time and date to be determined in December.
      2. Contract Negotiations: Review of the upcoming process to begin negotiations with the Clarksburg Teachers Association for a new agreement, including the selection of a school committee representative during the actual negotiations.
      3. School Building Use/Sportsmanship: Superintendent Franzoni will review recent meetings of the Berkshire County Superintendents Round Table to establish clear expectations and communication for athletic events at the local schools.  Emphasis has also been focused on the youth leagues in order to set a positive example for student-athletes, families, and spectators in reference to appropriate behavior.
    2. Continuing Business:
      1. Wellness Policy/Food Service Updates: Business Administrator Blackmer will provide an update on the recent visit by the DESE representative as the first step in the scheduled review of the food service program as part of an ongoing evaluation process for this area of each school in the NBSU.
      2. Residency Policy: Further discussion about the current residency policy for enrollment at the school and the ongoing challenges caused by the high demand with many families seeking to enroll their children at Clarksburg School (with questions surrounding their town of residence, and the school’s ability to verify).
